play by Luis Alfaro

Oedipus el Rey was set in an car graveyard. A brick wall leaning from the impact of a truck, The back one is leaning forward. The first version the back wall had a graffitti of the virgin of guadalupe covered by a chain link fence.

For the next version instead of a graffitti the wall was simplified into a textured wall and the fence folded over, as if it was tampered with. The wall was simplified so the makeshift altar in the middle of the graveyard was more in focus.

For the final version of this project the fence was gone and the wall is poured concrete.

Even with the walls tilted, there’s no way for its inhabitants to escape, the environment is harsher and bleaker.

For the scene with the Oracles, the back of the truck opens revealing their store and the sphinx.
