When a group of witches prophesizes that Macbeth will be King of Scotland, he and his power-hungry wife enact a slew of violence to ascend the throne and guard their fate. Once an honorable general, Macbeth becomes a tyrannical ruler, torn between his ruthless desire and guilty conscious. This reimagined tragedy unveils the ties between (Black) womanhood, the limits of masculinity, and the human psyche.

I wanted to play of the Iseman’s architecture, with its catwalks, grey walls and steel walls there was an industrial essence to it. Moveble steel chain link fence that could surround the characters, and rattled by the witches. Framed RP’s used to create the shadow of the witches’ prophecies. Two large red banners unfurl once the crown is atop Macbeth’s head, and then pulled down by the witches upon his demise. Three lamps that came down at the witches call. The Iseman became a world that echoed Macbeth’s one that felt dangerous, unsteady and in constant movement.
