Uterus is not Metaphor
My solo “Ask me about the Uterus” is entering into its final runs, preparing for the in-progress performance April 20th. It is part of the Sarah Lawrence Second Year Grad Solo.
My solo explores the myths and misinformation that surrounds the uterus. A Uterus is not a metaphor, it is an organ. Yet, in Greece it was thought if not weighted down it would wreck havoc in the body. Jean-Marie Charcot thought hysteria was caused by the uterus. And even now medical texts used to describe fertilization are buried in gender stereotypes. By using video games and puppetry I will bring attention to those tropes.
